Rebuilding Together

Legacy CDC was selected to perform design and construction management services in an effort to rehabilitate homes that were damaged by Hurricane Harvey. Our goal is to bring about positive change in the community and help bring hope to those still dealing with the impacts of Hurricane Harvey. These funds are meant to facilitate the repair and reconstruction of 160 homes affected by the hurricane.

Initial Eligibility Requirements

Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be the owner of the property since before the hurricane struck, be current on taxes and not at risk of foreclosure
  • Not own additional homes and the damaged home is the primary residence
  • Remain in the home for five years or repay the value of the completed work at the time of the sale or transfer of the home
  • Be unable to afford market rate contractors and have demonstrated financial inability to afford market rate construction services
  • Not earn more than 120% of area median income
  • Be a resident of Orangefield, Nome, Hardin County, Orange County, Beaumont or Port Arthur

Program funds will be used to provide the following services:

  • Damaged Property Evaluation
  • Environmental Review
  • Plan Preparation
  • Project Cost Estimate
  • Construction Oversight

How to Apply

Applications are selected through a neutral, random process; not in a first-come, first-serve selection.
